LIP BLUSH + LIP NEUTRALIZATION INFO + FAQS

LIP BLUSH

How long does lip blushing/neutralization last?

Lip micropigmentation can last between two to three years depending on the client's body, skin type and lifestyle. Smoking and sun exposure can speed up the fading process, and if you’re oil-prone, have an iron deficiency or use a lot of exfoliating products in your skin regimen, the fading will happen faster.

Lip procedures require two sessions for the desired color and results. During the first session, the main goal is to neutralize the lips so it is even in color. During the second session, another layer of color is added for color results and longevity.

CANDIDATE CONTRAINDICATIONS

Most of the below circumstances are in direct conflict with a successful and/or safe procedure, but confirmation of eligibility will be assessed on an individual basis:

  • Must not be pregnant or nursing

  • Diabetic

  • No viral infections or diseases

  • No epilepsy

  • No pacemakers, stents or valve replacements, or other heart conditions

  • No organ transplant recipients

  • No joint replacements or medical implants-most cosmetic implants are fine

  • Clients with keloid scarring may not be good candidates for microblading as it introduces trauma to the skin but microshading (machine work) should be fine. To be discussed in depth during evaluation

  • No seborrheic dermatitis as the excessive shedding of skin will cause immediate fading and generally poor results

  • No skin irritations or psoriasis near the treatment areas, such as but not limited to rashes, sunburn, acne, injury, etc.

  • No current bacterial or viral infection illnesses such as colds, covid-19, flus, etc.

  • No Botox or other neuromodulators within the last month

  • No Accutane used within the last full year as it creates heightened sensitivity and inability to tolerate procedure

  • No fillers within less than 2 weeks prior to procedure-schedule accordingly and be sure to let us know date of recent filler

  • No antibiotic within the month of procedure as it may push out the pigment during healing process

  • No allergies to anesthetic (lidocaine) or epinephrine

  • Candidate can not have extremely oily or problematic skin

  • No current cancer or chemotherapy-please see us once you're cleared as we'd love to help!

  • No auto-immune illnesses

  • No recent surgery - must be cleared by doctor after major surgery to ensure against infections or complications

  • If you are prone to cold sores, you will be required to take an antiviral cold sore medication or a supplement of Lysine. Take this at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment and continue to take it until you are done healing. Without taking this precaution, the procedure will trigger a flare up.

  • Additional mental health and/or neurodivergence such as the following will also affect eligibility: extreme anxiety, depression, body dysmorphia, OCD, clinical paranoia, trichotillomania, etc.

WHY DO I NEED A Second Session

The Second Session Is Part of The Process

During your 2nd session, we will go over faded areas +  the entire lip to ensure longevity through well-planted pigmented. Think of this session as the final coat to the procedure-it will lock in the initially discussed results.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY SECOND SESSION?

We will we book your 6 week follow up at the end of your first appointment.

WHEN WILL I NEED ANOTHER FOLLOW UP AFTER THE SECOND SESSION?

Your next follow up will be every 12-18 months. These appointments will be to color correct over time as the color fades. You may book these as you see fit though we might send an annual reminder.

Be mindful that skincare and lifestyle will also factor into your result longevity. Lip products with SPF will be absolutely essential to the vitality of your lips!

FAILURE TO FOLLOW PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS MAY AFFECT THE OUTCOME OF YOUR FINAL RESULTS.

The mouth is a breeding ground for bacteria, so there is higher risk of infection when having a lip procedure done. Avoid eating & drinking for at least 5 hours after your appointment. Do not drink tap water.

  • Rinse your mouth with antiseptic mouthwash at least 2x times a day until you are done healing. Be sure to rinse after eating/drinking.

  • Do not eat spicy, oily, acidic or greasy foods. Do not stretch lips to take large bites.

  • Once shedding begins, do not pick, peel or pull the skin.

  • Do not use saline water as it will cause ink to be pulled from the skin.

  • Apply ointment several times a day for 10 days to keep lips moisturized AT ALL TIMES. Do not rub-dab.

  • Avoid getting lips wet. Apply the ointment before brushing teeth.

  • Do not use any soaps/chemicals on your lips. Be careful when washing your face. Use a washcloth to better control any liquid substance.

  • Use a minimal amount of non-whitening toothpaste. Use a straw when swishing water.

  • Do not expose lips to direct sunlight/tanning beds. Since this is new skin, it’s prone to sunburn, which could change the color and cause scarring.

  • Do not smoke or kiss for at least 10 days.

  • Keep your hands clean and avoid touching your lips until they are done healing.
